#FitStreak : Week 3 Recap.

FitStreak is still going strong in this house!  I’m on day 22 of the streak and still loving it.  My last week of workouts looks like this:

Monday: 30 minute walk
Tuesday: 2 mile run + Upper body weights
Wednesday: Walk(s)
Thursday: Physique 57 + 2 mile run
Friday: Long Bike ride + Physique 57
Saturday: 5k run + 30 day shred, Level 2
Sunday: 17 mile bike ride + 15 minutes upper body weight DVD

Also, every day of August has been complete with walking at least 10,000 random steps and doing a #plankaday.  I made it to a 2:00 plank the other day but it was so hard… I need to keep working at this until that’s not such a struggle to hold.  Who knew 2:00 could feel like forever!

I’ll likely try to keep runs short and slow again this week to max my healing potential before marathon training starts again!  I do have a 5k next weekend and only time will tell if I actually “race” this (comical for me to use that term, really…) or just walk/run it.  Either way, it should be runfun and is for a good cause.  I was hoping I could bring The Dog but was told no… Something about no animals allowed on school property :(

Only one more week of the official streak but I have grand plans to keep this going a little longer at least.  Even when I need a rest day, it’s still not hard to get in a slow walk for 20 minutes or a little yoga/stretching that counts towards the streak.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.  I really hate Monday’s but at least it’s only 5 more days until the next weekend…

What’s one workout you did last week that really challenged you?

#FitStreak: Week 2

Wow!  One week of FitStreak is over already!  This 30 days is going to go fast, I am pretty sure…. I got to try out quite a few of my new DVDs this week so that made it a pretty fun week of workouts.  It’s hard to just pick one a day though :)  Also, riding the new bike was fun sometimes ;)

Here is how my week went down:

Monday: 35 minute bike ride + 15 min upper body weight DVD
Tuesday: Pilates “Dance” Netflix + 1st Level 30 Day Shred
Wednesday: 35 minute bike ride + 15 minute Core DVD
Thursday: 20 minute Bob Harper Pure Burn DVD + 30 minutes Pilates
Friday: 20 minute walk
Saturday: 65 minute bike ride + 30 minutes Jillian Michael’s Ripped in 30
Sunday: 60 minute Pure Burn DVD + 30 minutes Pilates + walk with Sister

This week went pretty well in the exercise department.  I rarely struggled with finding something I want to do each day!  All my new DVD’s really help though.  I’ll do a more complete review in a few weeks after I have had time to try them longer but so far I am loving the Bob Harper DVD and the Ripped in 30 DVD.  Bob really knows how to kick your butt and make your muscles scream for mercy and Jillian’s are nice because they go really fast because you move through the circuit nice and quick.

It’s not hard to imagine how the Biggest Loser contestants get in good shape… at least when they were trainers!

Another newly rediscovered exercise to me is Pilates!  I only have 1 semi-tolerable DVD on Netflix that I am doing currently but I would really like to find another good at home option for this.  And recommendations??  I used to love Pilates at a gym I belonged to years ago… man, I miss that gym!

I’m planning to continue one more week of no-running and then next weekend Sister and I are going to go to a running store and be fitted for shoes again just to see what another place recommends.  I’m hoping to find something cushiony but lightweight at the same time!  Then with new shoes, I will slowly start easing back into running to try to get up to half marathon shape in like ummm… 5-6ish weeks.  Oops.  I’m really hoping some of my endurance ability to run is still leftover from the marathon

I ran 26 miles just about a month ago… seems really hard to believe currently…

So that was my week!  Busy with workouts but lots of fun too.  Here’s to another week of #FitStreaking!

What have you been up to?  Best workout of the week?

Torn.

Sorry for the long break since my last post on my most recent half marathon.  I have been very torn as to the best way to spend the next month or so.  I am currently signed up for another half marathon – the Haunted Hustle is Madison and I am not really sure the best “training plan” to follow for these next few weeks… clearly it’s not enough time for a formal training plan but I also know I can run 13.1 miles so this is mainly going to be more “for fun”.  Did I mention I am dressing up for this race?? :D  My costume is still coming together but hopefully I can figure out a way to be costumed as well as able to run.  My only goal for this next race is to feel good the whole race.  I don’t want any side cramps, low blood sugar, bad paced miles, etc, etc to get in my way.  I want to be able to push myself but I don’t want to feel completely out of control running this thing… hence the being torn as to what kind of training to do.  Since I know I can do the distance, I am feeling like I might best spend my next 4 weeks really working speed work so that is what I have been doing this past week.  Here is a recap of my last weeks workouts:

Monday:  3 mile run at normal pace

Tuesday: Body Pump

Wednesday: 2 mile interval run – 1min fast, 2 minutes slow, repeat for 2 miles

Thursday: 2 mile HIIT treadmill workout and Body Pump (2 mins jog, 1 min fast; 6 repeats at speed 8.8mph, 9.2mph, 9.5pmh, 9.7mph, 10.0mph, 9.2mph – holy sweat-fest!  I did not pick a good day to wear my half marathon finisher shirt and capri pants – duh!  And another side note, I can never wear this finisher shirt again, I felt like I was rocking an 80′s mid-riff tee.  Why can’t they make these shirts human being sized??  At least the medal fits ;) )

What should I do with these shirts??...

Clearly I did not put in many miles this week… oops… but in my defense, I am starting to get a cold so didn’t want to push myself too much this week and also we have been having rain here is Wisconsin, like EVERY DAY!  It’s totally messing with my favorite season and being able to enjoy it!!  Pretty soon all the storms will have taken down the leaves before they even have a chance to change… boo!

I also did not do a Boot Camp session with the sister because she has been out of commission with a sore foot… that and yesterday was her birthday and I threw her a Surprise Party!!!

Birthday Girl!

Now I have to decide what kind of run I want to do this weekend.  Should I do a long relaxed run or a short(er) Yasso 800 run?  I’m kind of leaning towards the Yasso, especially since I heard Mr. Yasso is going to be in Milwaukee this weekend to lead a fun run for the Lakefront Marathon!  Did I also mention that Kels and I are helping with the Lakefront?  We are going to be sentries at about mile 14 so we will be wearing our special and very official race vests and making sure all pedestrians STAY OFF THE COURSE.  And we also must be on alert for those dirty rotten race bandits ;)  I am kinda excited for volunteering for this but also a bit torn that I will not be running it.  I want to run a marathon in the worst way!  But also am not sure if I am quite there yet… I guess only time will tell :D
