Double Digits!

This morning was my first double digit run since July 10th so I was kinda freaked out.  I don’t know why anything longer than 9 miles always messes with my head so much but it sure does!  I woke up and ate my pre-run breakfast of a banana, rice cake and almond butter all around and some water and coffee and then about an hour later, hit the road!

What am I doing?

The weather was really nice today, which was a big improvement over last weekend’s rainy run!  It took me until mile 3 to really get in my groove but once I did, it was pretty smooth sailing!  I kept checking my pace to make sure I was not going too slow to most often find I was going a little too FAST! and had to slow down to not end up burning out.  Twice I caught myself cruising along at an 8:45 pace!

As for fueling while running, I popped a Clif Shot blok ever 2 miles and that kept me going quite well!  I took the lemon lime flavor today and while I did not like it as much as the strawberry flavor, it was certainly still tasty enough and did the trick!  I love that they taste just like gummy bears!!

Crosby's birthday is Monday so he had to be in the after picture! Plus my hands were shaking too much to take my own photo anyways ;)

Fueling after running today was another story… and not a very good one.  For some reason I thought an oat/oat bran combo sounded good for breakfast but it tasted horrible for some reason?!?  Still not really sure why but I could hardly eat anything and for some reason if I don’t eat a HUGE breakfast after getting back, I have zero appetite the rest of the day and feel like crapola.  Well, since I didn’t have a large breakfast, I felt like crap all day and all I wanted to eat was french fries and ice cream.  I settled for baked potatoes for lunch but that still did not help any.  Think I also had about 3 other “lunches” but I never could get back on track until a delicious and greasy gluten free pepperoni pizza!  Who would think greasy pepperoni/pizza would help my very unsettled stomach?!?  Oh well at least something helped!

I also got a new couch delivered today!  Finally I have a “grown-up” couch in my living room – I have only been making do with my oh so comfy Ikea couch for like 5 years ;)  Getting the couch IN the house turned into quite the production that involved me, a crowbar and a hammer while about 6 people looked on – bahahaha!  And before the whole “couch episode”, I also assembled a bookshelf, shoe shelf and cubby thing for in the basement and cleaned that up since it is now the new home of my old couch!  Looks quite nice on both floors now!  Well, time for bed.  I am beyond beat today after that beast of a run/furniture assembly marathon…Night!
