Five Wake Ups!

When I was a kid, I always wanted to know “How many days until… my birthday, Christmas, vacation, etc.”  If my mom would answer “Five”  I would always come back with “Are you counting today and are you counting the actual day, I need you to be more specific” – lol!!  (Sadly, it probably sounded a lot like this as I was quite the kid…)  So my mom came up with a good response – aka Five Wake ups!  That way I always knew exactly what she meant when she said how many days I still had to wait.

Now that I am a little older ;) , I think this system still works pretty well.  It’s nice and specific and easy to understand.  And Christmas is only five wake ups away!!  Crazy, I know!!  But this is how I am planning to spend these next five wake up days…

Watching The Holiday-

I’ve already watched this twice but I think  I need to watch it at least one more time…

Eating lots and lots of sugar cookies :S (Probably a few too many ;) )-

PS – My sister is a cookie decorating snob.  Sometimes she won’t let me help because I am not perfect enough ;)  But luckily she still lets me eat them!

Spending time with this little cootie-

So darn cute!!

Looking at my Christmas tree that I love -

Promise it looks better in person, and there are many more presents under the tree now!

Wrapping and buying my last few presents-

And preparing to celebrate the Real Reason for this Season!

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

I hope everyone is enjoying this season, it is my favorite favorite :)  Happy Tuesday!

One Wish Wednesday No. 5

Happy Wednesday!  I am glad this week is speeding right by and I hope it continues  so the weekend gets here quickly!!  A friend of Sister‘s and mine is coming to have a mini Holiday party this weekend so lots of Christmas Cookie baking will occur between then and now.  And that makes me very happy!

This week’s wish is that the month of December would last just a liiiitle bit longer.  I mean, it’s already December 7th which means really only two weeks until Christmas!  I just started finally listening to Christmas music (because I got it loaded on my iPod) and my tree is finally up and decorated and the weather is getting cold so it feels like Christmas and it’s almost over!!  Ok, maybe that is being a bit dramatic (shocking) but I just always get this feeling every year.  I guess that is probably why the stores start putting Christmas decorations out in August ;)  (But I am not for that because I also like to celebrate Fall, Thanksgiving, etc!)

I love just about everything about Christmas, with maybe the exception of the annoying sound of the bell ringers outside of every store I go into.  That makes me sound scroogy but I have a thing against constant, repetitive noises and that is just one of them that give me the worst headache!  I’ll gladly give money to a good cause but please, just give me Christmas carols or something instead of the bells!

Some of my favorite Christmas things are:

My Christmas tree!

My house Christmas decorations!

Christmas cookies, especially when decorated with leg warmers and jumpers!

and Singing Christmas songs!

17 days and counting!!  I’ll try to enjoy every last one since I cannot make them go any slower…

As a PS – I also wish that you would “Like” my fellow blogger Kristin on Facebook.  She’s in the running to be a Love Grown Foods Blogger and the more “likes” she gets, the closer she gets to being selected!!!  And that would be a good Christmas present for her to get – lol!!

The Hunt.

Yesterday we went on our annual Christmas tree hunt.  We have often had to face green grass for our hunt but never rain before.  This year, we got soaked… And mudded…

In years past, we would make a pretty far venture to a place about 30 minutes from home.  Last year we realized their tree selection had kind of gone down hill so this year we decided to try somewhere new.  We picked a place called Trees for Less because we had a $5 off coupon – score!  And it ended up being a pretty cute well taken care of place.  We actually got to drive right out to the trees which was a big improvement over previous years so it helped us maybe avoid a little rain and mud?!?  We wanted balsam’s so that is the section we drove to.

I don’t know if I was being lazy or what but as soon as I got out of the car, I wanted the tree we were parked right next to!

When I see one I like, there is no himming and hawwing. It's just cut down!

It did make it pretty easy to just cut and load though!  Mother dear took a little longer to decide but did finally pick one…

Someone really had a good time though and got completely covered in mud!  He also really did not want to leave to go home and tried to run away with the worker :S

Wow, someone needs a haircut!

Muddy!

After we’d paid for our trees, we got to enjoy a little cup o hot chocolate in a cute little log cabin at the entrance!

Despite the not really winter like temps and the rain, it was a very fun morning!

All done!

I've decided trees do not photograph very well... this looks really hoaky but in real life, it looks really good...

So darn cute!!
