Well, last week when I warned I was going to be starting Marathon Monday posts again I had no clue that I would be hobbling around on marathon legs… but well, then yesterday happened! So I guess you can say I am starting Marathon Monday’s out on a good note?? Or something…
I was a little worried that after running this marathon that I would loose all motivation to run again like I did after Maritime but this time I can’t wait until my legs stop hurting so I can go on a short run again and work back into some sort of training thing. So hopefully when January roles around I will be a little more trained than I was for Lakefront…
So anyways, last week looked like this in terms of training:
Sunday: Jackie Warner 40 minute Weight Circuit DVD
Monday:Rest/Walk
Tuesday: 4 miles in 38ish minutes.
Wednesday: Yoga Body Bootcamp with Sister as teacher!!
Thursday: Insanity
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Rest
Sunday: Run a Marathon.
So, a total of 30.2 miles for last week in the running department
Which is probably about 26.2 more than I’d done the week before… oops!
It was a busy marathon weekend for others too. So many large ones in the Midwest and also one in Portland that I know of! One of my fellow Girls on the Run Coaches finished her first out there! So if you ran a marathon this past weekend, congrats! Although I was told at work today that apparently I am not a good runner… because someone’s daughter-in-law runs marathons “all the time” and she’s never sore so I must have done something wrong. But she’s not my mother so she’ll let my mother scold me. What? Whatever!
I’m the first to admit I don’t always make the sanest choices when it comes to running but that’s only because I love it so gosh darn much! Even if it leaves me walking like a 90 year old women the day after…

No scolding! I agree – Whatever!!
Yeah, I know! Kels said I should have told her to run a mile and tell me how she feels the next day
It was probably my bootcamp that made you motivated to run a marathon. Don’t lie.
Yeah, probably. If that didn’t kill me, nothing will!
People who know marathoners but have never run one themselves have no idea. My brother always tells me about his best friend’s wife who is an amazing runner. (She won a marathon.) But even though he thinks that gives him street cred or gives him room to speak about marathons, it doesn’t. So I say a big ol’ fart to the lady who made that comment. Not only is she misinformed, she’s just rude!*
For sure! Until you’ve been there, you really don’t get it!
