1/12: 2012 Goals Update

So 2012 is already going way too fast.  And is already 8.3% complete!  How can that be?  I swear it was just Thanksgiving of last year… So to keep me accountable for my 2012 goals, I think it’s a good idea to review my list once a month and make some notes about the progress I made that month.  I have done really well on some of my goals and been really lacking in others… progress, not perfection, right?!

  1. Run a Marathon. – This is not complete yet, but I am signed up!  Hopefully my back allows me to keep on track for this!
  2. Complete 4 half marathons. Check off ONE so far!  I also know I am going to be doing the Nashville Country Music Rock ‘n Roll Half Marathon in April and am planning to run a Full Moon Half near my parents house in August and maybe one near my grandparents in September.
  3. Complete a half marathon in less than 2 hours.  Um, no.  Not yet.  Also, I am not as close as I thought I was but I will discuss this in a future post…
  4. Travel somewhere new.  Sadly, no.  I have not been anywhere new yet unless you count my visit to Universal Studios when we were in Florida?
  5. Redo the outside of my house.  (Paint, clean, etc.)  Not yet!  Still a little cold outside for this…
  6. Re-organize the basement to make the space more usable.  Not yet again.  I have determined I need to invest in some flooring that is more suitable for exercise though.  They have some interlocking rubberish stuff that I have my eyes on.  Tax return time yet?
  7. Keep up with Insanity.  I was doing well on this until the back problem :)
  8. Try something completely new to me.  Nope.
  9. Be more patient.  Bahaha!
  10. Read at least 12 books.  Doing REALLY well on this.  Already finished 6 and am 50% done with 7!
  11. Finish a race in my Vibrams.  Nope.  Gotta try and find a 5K!
  12. Spend at least one day on a beach.  Nope!
  13. Take down the dead tree in my backyard.  (Before a storm takes it down…)  Yeah, no.  Not yet.
  14. Try to find a new job.  Thought about one and realized maybe this isn’t such an immediate goal right now…
  15. Get my scrapbooks caught up to date.  HAHA!  Haven’t done a single page.  This needs to change!
  16. Foam roll at least 3 days a week.  Yup!  This one I have been very good at.
  17. Do an ab DVD or workout at least 3 days a week.  Yes, until the back problem started…
  18. Get yoga back into my routine.  This was a big fat no until the back problem started.  I now am going to focus on this because I KNOW it helps a lot to strengthen my lower back and have seen this in the past.  Right now I have a DVD that I am planning to do 2-3 days per week.
  19. Continue to work on reducing stress in my life.  This is better I would say.  Still LOTS of room to improve but better…
  20. Don’t buy things unless I NEED them or will at least use them a lot.  I would say this is about 90% success.  I have not purchased much this past month except for some stuff on vacation that I have been using a lot so I think that qualifies?
  21. Reduce use of paper towels and buy only 100% recycled for when I do need them.  Check!  Haven’t bought anything but 100% recycled and have not been going through them as fast as usual!
  22. Edit: Learn how to be a better speller!  This is wishful thinking but I think I finally know how to spell ridiculous! (Yup!  No red squiggly underline for that one on my first try!!!)  One word a month, perhaps?
2012 has proven to already be an interesting year.  I hope I have filled my quota of sickness and injury though and can just get back to my regular routines!  I can tell I will be doing my February update in no time since it’s already the 5th and this month is only 29 days long!  Yikes!
