Another Monday is here! Four weeks down and like 18 to go?!?!
My runs this week were rather impeded by the fact that I managed to contract some sort of chest crushing virus after the half marathon Saturday… When I woke up Monday morning, I knew something was up and sure enough! I managed to be sick all last week… so needless to say, running was rough. And I still have a rather persistent cough that just keeps dragging along… It is rather hard to run when one cannot breathe, believe it or not!
Monday: 2 mile easy pace – goal 10:36. This run was completed around our resort area in DisneyWorld and I felt like I was dying on this run but still managed to average 10:07 so I guess I could have slowed down a bit? I always tend to run faster when I have no idea where I am going to be running, and in the dark, so that it probably most of my excuse for Monday :S
Mile 1 – 10:03
Mile 2- 10:12
At least I was pretty consistent! For this run, I went around out hotel property and ran up to another hotel up the way. It was surprisingly easy to log 2 miles without going anywhere!
Wednesday: Tempo Run, distance 5 miles, 1warm up, 3 @ 9:00 and 1 cool down. Wednesday was the day breathing started getting REALLY hard, plus it was cold so this run kind of sucked. I am always torn between resting when I am sick and still exercising because I do feel marginally better if I just go out and do some exercise… but while exercising I always wonder why I didn’t just skip it that day!
Mile 1 – 10:18
Mile 2 – 8:40
Mile 3 – 8:58
Mile 4 – 8:40
Mile 5 – 11:18
Despite the clog in my lungs, I still managed to run faster than the pace specified in my training plan! Mile 3 was a little slower because I had to walk to catch my breath for a few seconds. Oops! But I finished and felt like it was hard but no harder than this type of training run should be.
Saturday: Long Run: 12 Miles. Again, another run was impacted by my cold but at least by Saturday, things had started getting better. I also found Boiron Homeopathic cold and cough medicines at the local co-op and seriously within taking 2-3 doses of each, my symptoms literally started disappearing. If you are looking for cold meds, try these. Sister even started getting sick Saturday, took a few of the cold pills and she felt healthy again almost right away!! Too bad I didn’t start taking these wonder drugs sooner!!! But after this run and the lingering sickness, I was more than happy to just veg out all afternoon and evening on Saturday!
As I type this, I already have breakfast, lunch and dinner ready for tomorrow, the kitchen cleaned and I showered. I was apparently WAY too productive this evening so now it is time to sit on the couch and watch TV and/or read! All that talking about running has made me tired
Happy Running! And hopefully it is warmer where you are
