So this week I was supposed to run 7 miles for my upcoming half marathon with Sister in Walt Disney World. Well, when I woke up this morning, it was pouring rain and I was not really feeling like spending 70 minutes cold and wet so I made a plan change and ended up at the gym. The 7 mile training run I did for my Summerfest half marathon this summer was also done on the treadmill so it was a little bit of de ja vue
I really spend very, very little time running on treadmills so this morning I had to just find a way to zone out completely. Lately, I have actually been pretty good at doing this by just listening to the same one or two songs on my iPod. It seems to help me loose track of time and actually makes the miles go by faster even though in theory, it seems like it would make it go slower… but I REALLY like these two songs so I think that is partly why this little method worked OK for me this morning.
I got a little “oh my goodness, how much is left” at about 4.4 miles but just sucked it up and finished by running the whole 7 miles and then walking an additional half mile or so. I did a few push ups and some stretching and called it a day! I am also happy to say I had very little IT Band pain after my issues earlier this week
I was starting to feel a bit of something at about one hour but the treadmill decided to time out at that point so I just switched treadmills and that actually made the pain go away again! Hopefully with continued stretching and foam rolling, I will not have to worry about this again.
I also found a new love this morning… Vanilla flavored Clif Shots… it tastes just like Vanilla Pillsbury canned frosting. Oh boy, this could be dangerous!
We are off to hunt for a Christmas tree in the rain this afternoon… this could be interesting :S Happy Saturday!
